Your role
As an Assignment Producer, your primary focus is to plan, conceive, organize, and develop the production and realization of news programming for on-line, radio and television at CBC in Nunavut. You are responsible for ensuring that work adheres to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices.
You will successfully carry out your role by assigning and vetting stories and program ideas and concepts. You will assign, research, gather, write and edit. You are responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the program or program segments, determining the style, line-up and format. You are accountable for the budget related to program preparation, production and post-production. You will be actively involved in training and developing new journalists.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
•University degree in journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Relevant journalistic experience in on-line, radio and TV news.
•Proficiency with on-line, radio and TV production and presentation technologies.
•Knowledge of, and interest in, the culture and politics of Inuit and the north.
•Computer skills.
•Creative mind.
•Ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•Proven, strong leadership, mentoring and coaching abilities .
•Ability to establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relations.
