Sports Show Producer
Regina SK
Sports
Show Producer Regina, SK
Reports
to : Program Director
You’ve
made at least one impromptu road trip to
cheer on your favourite team. You’re
still cleaning body paint out of your belly
button from last season. You’ve cheered
so loud you’ve lost your voice.
If
you can answer yes to at least two of those
three statements, read on.
We’re
looking for someone who wants to be on the
frontlines every day as the producer of
Saskatchewan’s only nightly sports
talk show.
You
can’t be a chicken... you’re
going to be talking with athletes and celebrities
you’ve idolized in an effort to book
a red-hot show. You need to be extroverted
and fearless.
You’ve
got a gold medal in CFL and NHL fanaticism,
a silver in understanding what’s big
in MLB, the NFL and the NBA, and a bronze
for an appreciation as to why our audience
cares about the PGA, NASCAR and curling.
(Yes, curling.)
You’ve
proven that you want to be in this business.
(That means at the very least you’ve
completed a 2 year diploma in Radio/Television
arts from a school like SAIT, NAIT, Mount
Royal, BCIT, Lethbridge College, ACC, etc.)
You know how to research and write a story
for broadcast. You know why it’s important
to pre-interview a guest.
This
is not a “behind the scenes”
gig. You’ll be pinch-hitting on the
sports desk as required and hitting the
streets as a reporter from time to time,
so we’re looking for someone who has
great writing skills, a solid delivery,
and a confident tenor on the air.
You’ll
have a higher-than-normal aptitude when
it comes to using a computer. This means
you know how to work the web for research,
you have a basic understanding of HTML,
you can edit photos and encode MP3s, etc.
You have good e-mail behaviour (no flame
wars with other show producers!) You’re
confident that you’ll figure out our
broadcast software within about a week.
So,
do you want to join our team?
First,
let me tell you a little about us. Rawlco
Radio has stations in Regina, Saskatoon,
Prince Albert, North Battleford, Meadow
Lake, Calgary and Edmonton. We demand a
high quality of work from our people, but
in return offer a great work environment
and opportunities to grow and develop.
Still
want in? Send me an e-mail. Include a cover
letter, current resume, and an MP3 with
a duration of no longer than 4 minutes with
your best sports work (voicers, sportscasts,
interviews, etc.)
In
your cover letter, I want you to answer
these questions:
-
Who is the one athlete you’d want
to interview? Why?
- At what length would you go to get Tiger
Woods on the radio?
- Which teams do you detest?
When
you’ve cobbled all that together,
send it off to:
