Corner Brook, NL - 100.1 BayFM (CKVB-FM) is reaching more listeners than ever
thanks to a major expansion of its FM signal. The community-driven station based in
Corner Brook, NL has officially launched its new transmitter site—boosting its power
and expanding coverage into Pasadena and Deer Lake, while also strengthening its
existing signal in Corner Brook.
Work on expanding BayFM’s coverage has been in the works since 2022, with final
Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approval for
the technical changes being released on December 20, 2024. The ruling allows BayFM
to increase its transmitter power from 50 watts to 2,760 watts and relocate its
transmitter site, extending its reach to approximately 40,000 people.
On-air testing from the new transmitter site commenced on January 9, 2025 following
an inspection by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).
Following a successful three week testing period, the station permanently went to air
from its newly built site on January 31, 2025.
This upgrade is part of BayFM’s ongoing commitment to delivering quality local radio to
Western Newfoundland. While the signal has grown, the station remains dedicated to its
signature mix of country music, engaging local personalities and essential community
information.
BayFM invites new and existing listeners to tune in and experience the improved signal
firsthand. The station is available at 100.1 FM and online for those outside the coverage
area.
