106.1 CHEZ and The Biggs & Barr Show (with Pastey Jamie) raise $30,000 for the Ottawa Food Bank

Updated: Apr 29

It started as a mistake and became a movement!  Meaning to say “Stay Safe” to a caller, it accidently came out as “CHEZ Stafe”…listeners immediately started repeating it back to the Biggs & Barr Show and being the creative geniuses they are, they decided to sell CHEZ Stafe t-shirts for sale to benefit the Ottawa Food Bank.

The sale was supposed to be one day only but the demand was so great we decided to keep it going all weekend.  In the first six hours Biggs & Barr were on the air over 1,000 shirts were sold (they refused to hand over their shift until they met that number)!  In total 1949 t-shirts were sold with over $30,000 being donated to the Ottawa Food Bank.

With the food bank’s 5 x buying power this donation will help the Ottawa Food Bank purchase over $150,000 in food. They support approx. 39,000 people each month.

“We are so proud at CHEZ to help the Ottawa Food Bank and bring the community together for a good cause” says Adam Thompson, Program Director for 106.1 CHEZ.

When asked for an official quote for this release The Biggs and Barr Show said “We just made a mistake on-air. It’s our amazing listeners and the incredible humans that live here that deserve the credit. They bought one of these silly t-shirts and now the Food Bank has a bunch of money. It’s a beautiful thing.”

CHEZ STAFE t-shirts are now back in the vault. If you want one, you’ll need to check your local thrift store in 6 months to get one 😊
