This morning at 8:00 Halifax’s newest radio station came alive. CKHY-FM is now Surge 105.
Surge 105 launched with the Black Keys song Gold On The Ceiling. Using the slogan Where Halifax Rocks the new station will feature a playlist with artists including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arkells, The Foo Fighters, Sloan and City and Colour.
With a blend of new music and 90’s-basedrock Surge 105 will target 25-to 45-year-olds.
Acadia Broadcasting President Chris Pearson explains, “We are excited to launch this new station. Our stations pride themselves in local and entertaining content, our work with local charities and our news coverage.” Station Manager Scott Pettigrew says, “We will announce our on-air team in the near future for Surge 105 but for today we will focus on the music. We are anxious to hear what people think and hope they will connect via our different social media platforms.”
Acadia Broadcasting Limited purchased the Halifax radio stations CKHY and CKHZ (Hot Country 103.5) from HFX Broadcasting. The sale was approved by the CRTC in late April.
