AM News Journalist - Alberta

88.1 The One in Parkland County is looking for an AM news journalist and reporter. This position is full-time, and the successful candidate will have a positive attitude and an eagerness to help with community events with the rest of our team!

About the Role:

· Responsible for coverage of council meetings.

· As a local station, our mandate is clear, local first, but significant provincial and national news is also important.

· In-person and over the telephone interviews.

· Reporting from the scene of breaking stories.

· Expected to generate local stores by getting involved in the community, not just to rip and read.

What we need from you:

· A diploma from a Canadian broadcasting program.

· Local radio experience an asset, but new-to-industry applicants are more than welcome!

· The ability to gather and disseminate news in a timely manner with an emphasis on accuracy.

· A strong news and sports delivery.

· Computer literate in Microsoft Office with knowledge of KLZ Newsroom an asset but not necessary.

· Audio editing skills and an ability to pull relevant actualities from your interviews and record voicers.

· Organized, punctual, reliable, and positive

· A clean driving record with reliable transportation

· Knowledge of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

· A willingness to relocate to the community you’re serving.

· The drive to produce local content and not just grab from press releases.
