London, ON - Effective today Blackburn Radio Inc. will be changing its name to Blackburn Media Inc.
(Blackburn Media). President Ron Dann stated "As the news, entertainment and digital engagements with our company partners and communities grow and evolve, the name change signifies the ongoing evolution of the Blackburn Company to provide the level of content and engagement they expect."
"We recognize that interaction within our communities takes place at many different levels with the implementation of our digital offerings” said Amanda Crapper, Blackburn Digital Media Manager; “These include The 519 Podcast, news on demand and daily news updates from blackburnnews.com across our traditional and digital platforms.”
Director of Operations Walter Ploegman added; “Blackburn Radio has a long history of serving great communities in Mid and Southwestern Ontario. Our mission is to connect people and build communities with an innovative blend of on-air, on-line, interactive and mobile media services. We have been working in the digital arena successfully for over a decade now and the change to Blackburn Media reflects that transformation and growth, establishing a clear path for the company moving forward.”
The new logo represents a transition to better reflect the evolution and direction of Blackburn Media. Blackburn Media Inc. is a family-owned media company that had its beginnings in 1852. Over the course of five generations the family has played a pioneering role in newspaper publishing, radio, television, database marketing and digital media. Almost 170 years later Blackburn Media operates 13 radio stations in Ontario; London, Windsor, Sarnia, Chatham, Wingham and Leamington in addition to 5 local news portals and podcasting.
