Canada’s newest radio station is Country 90.5 FM, CFCH North Bay

Canada’s newest radio station is Country 90.5 FM, CFCH North Bay. The station officially signed on Tuesday (June 15) morning at 7:30 am. Owned and operated by Vista Radio, this marks the return of the CFCH call letters to the airwaves. CFCH was started in North Bay back in 1930 by Roy Thomson - later “Lord Thomson of Fleet” - as the first step towards building his media empire. To kick off the launch of CFCH, Roy’s granddaughter Sherry Brydson who now owns Vista Radio talked about the importance of local radio. The first song played was “Outlaws and Outsiders” the first gold-certified single by North Bay’s own Cory Marks.

Fresh off a 20+ year stint with Rogers, Kevin Oschefski takes on the role of PD and morning show duties with “The Kevin O Show”. Lindsay Cooper will host mid-days while Drew Ferris hosts afternoons. Drew returns to North Bay after a few years as morning host at Moose 99.3 FM in West Nipissing.
