Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Commercial & promo writing: Creating commercials, promotions, and public service announcements for CJMR, CJYE, and Faith Strong Today’s on-air and online web/social media platforms. This includes internal programming and sales content, along with creative for third party advertisers/programmers (clients). Coordinate and manage the Production Dep’t with each project and provide running instructions for all creative to the Traffic & Sales Dep’t. Provide direction to voice talents (as needed).

Compose clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy utilizing different writing styles that appeal to various target audiences. Drive the creation of original concepts that result in effective and compelling communication. Also develop and maintain a clear and consistent brand voice, adhering to commonly used style guides. Clients: Working with programming and advertising clients (direct or through agency) to create scripts, imaging and branding for their product, service, or program. Updating with revisions to meet the client’s needs. Meeting deadlines for campaigns.

Marketing and promotion: Create internal and external marketing for CJMR, CJYE and Faith Strong Today. Projects could include creative for television, print, mobile and web media.

Contest/Promotions: Writing, scheduling, and prize fulfilment for CJMR, CJYE and Faith Strong Today contests. Notifying winners, preparing prize packages, and preparing for delivery.

On-air duties: When necessary, voice on-air commercials and promotions. Assemble content for “Christian Calendar” community event feature airing weekdays on CJYE.

Content Coordinator: Research on guests/topics for programming; booking recording dates w/ guests, talent and Production Dep’t; and scheduling release of content. Provide research notes to talent prior to recording date, including suggested questions. Production: As needed, assist with audio or video production, including editing and publishing using Adobe or other software. Write, plan and schedule on-line content for CJYE, CJMR and Faith Strong Today Media, including web & social media posts.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Creative Director/Copywriter (3-5 years).

Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) Adobe PDF and Creative Suite Word Press web publishing


Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be self-motivated and well organized. Creativity, attention to detail, adaptability and marketing knowledge are also required. Able to multi-task.

Capable to establish and build strong relationships with both co-workers and clients.

Communicate with clients/agencies from diverse backgrounds and focus on their unique needs.

Additional Notes

Business-casual dress acceptable, maintaining a neat appearance. Flexible (and adjustable) hours are required for completing Creative tasks when they occur outside of normal business hours. Occasional availability to work outside of normal business hours at events representing stations to the public/clients.
