First Nations Features Reporter & Program Host, Radio (Terrace, BC)
Northern Native Broadcasting, Terrace, CFNR is looking for its next great journalist, storyteller and program host. We want someone who is dedicated and willing to learn and work hard for the communities we serve. If you’re passionate about First Nation’s Peoples, their culture, success stories and issues, you could be the right person to contribute to our award winning community programming. We broadcast to many northern and central BC communities and need an individual who is eager to help them share their unique stories and culture. The right person for this opportunity will ideally understand the cultures and issues of BC’s Indigenous peoples, have a journalism background, be a confident interviewer, well versed in the role of digital content and social media as well as skilled in audio and video editing.

First Nations Features Reporter & Program Host position will be located in Terrace and will report to the Program Director.
-Develop and maintain contacts over a wide geographic area for a diverse audience
-Write, produce and broadcast timely, engaging segments for a daily show and occasionally report on local, national and international stories as required
-Maintain knowledge of politics, current affairs, business, social issues and popular culture as they relate to the aboriginal and non-aboriginal demographic
-Proficient with all social media including but not exclusive to Facebook and twitter -Must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays
-Must be available at all times for breaking stories
This is a position for an experienced journalist or competent second year or graduate broadcasting student requiring:
Interviewing, Writing and Storytelling
A modern Digital Skillset involving Digital Media Management & Output including:
● Social media content creation and maintenance
● Production skills (video and audio)
● Familiarity with digital photography and videography
Broadcasting experience or related training
Ability to work and learn independently
Excellent interviewing and audio editing skills
Superior organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively in person, writing and on the phone A team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humour Computer literacy
Experience with Burli and Media Touch software are helpful
A valid driver's license
