Former CFRA Ottawa Newsman Gordon Breen passed away peacefully on Sunday July 28th at the age of 93.
Gord was a mainstay in the CFRA newsroom from the mid 70’s though the mid 80’s. He later worked part time at 98.5 The Jewel doing news.
Gord delivered a newscast with the best of them.Authoritative and smooth.He possessed a great voice and was dedicated to the job.
Born and raised in Quebec City,Gord was also fluid in French and worked on English radio in Sherbrooke Quebec before moving to Ottawa.
He also had a background in sports broadcasting and was the PA announcer for the Ottawa 67s during the years when the team was owned by the late Howard Darwin.
Gord also spent time as PA announcer for the Ottawa Rough Riders in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Sincere condolences to his family,sons Bob of Vancouver and John of Calgary,and daughters Susan of Collingwood and Cathy of Portland,Maine.
His friendship and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
