We're hiring a full-time morning Newsreader for JOY Radio (CJYE)!


For professional news anchors or reporters with a journalism/digital media/broadcast diploma, you'll be able to work from home delivering hourly morning newscasts to the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area on radio and via podcast. Additional duties writing and website publishing news related articles.


You will need strong writing and editing skills, be hard working with an interest in current events, and have your own sound editing software and recording equipment to submit to station and publish podcast through web-based interface.


Preferred qualifications:

Completion of Journalism or Broadcast related post-secondary degree/diploma

2 years of on-air experience in the broadcasting industry in news or traffic would be an asset

Ability to work both independently and with a team

Flexibility in scheduling

Better than average computer skills, and an understanding of basic recording software

Strong knowledge of the GTHA and surrounding areas is beneficial


Position:

Successful candidate(s) will be on-air reporting hourly updates Monday to Friday in the mornings from 5 am -1 pm

Research, compose, and read newscasts recorded to air on JOY Radio and released via podcast

Provide audio reports to the News department

Write and publish news articles for website

Create news related video content for social media (if needed)

Work and cover events as reporter (if needed), during work hours or provided time in lieu
