Reporting to the Senior Manager, music Programming (english)
Job Summary
The Programmer, South Asian Content is responsible for showcasing the best of South Asian music, from new and emerging to the classic hits. This role encompasses a range of duties, from coordinating schedules and activities for speciality satellite and digital channels, to hosting/co-hosting, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operation of channel activity. This position requires a deep knowledge of South Asian culture across music, comedy and pop culture.

Accountabilities
Programming:
·      Coordinate and perform all necessary programming activities to maintain program schedules in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
·      Maintain channel logs for live airplay and orderly transition and activation of program content.
·      Manage regulatory compliance across music programming.
·      Select, edit, assemble and ingest material into database for airplay using appropriate software.
·      Log metadata associated with selections in company programming database.
·      Operate equipment to edit audio for on-air programming, ensuring high-quality content related to specialty shows, promotions, liners and other on-air deliverables.
·      Monitor related industries for new and emerging material.
·      Attend weekly music meetings, prepare status updates as required.

Production:
·      Plan, organize and coordinate the production of channel programs as required.
·      Determine treatment, scope and scheduling of production, edit audio as needed.
·      Monitor channel programming to ensure proper audio quality is being maintained.
·      Coordinate use of available guests related to broadcast content, both in-studio and remote.
·      Collaborate with Producer, Social Media on various opportunities to build off-platform audiences.
·      Perform other duties as assigned.

Hosting and announcing:
·      Acting as host or co-host, select and introduce material for broadcast
·      Conduct research for programs; assist in determining required coverage
·      Act as interviewer, commentator or analyst during broadcasts
·      Cultivate and maintain regular contact with music industry stakeholders

Project & Partnership Management:
·      Coordinate project details for specialty programming, in collaboration with cross-functional and external teams.
·      Attend regular partner planning meetings as needed.
·      Manage partner relationships with music industry representatives; stay current via relevant industry sources.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Level of Education
·      Completion of a post-secondary broadcasting arts program.

Job Related Experience
·      2-5 years’ relevant experience.
·      Basic knowledge of CRTC regulations.
·      Extensive knowledge of South Asian content across music, comedy and pop culture.

Skills and Background
·      Strong understanding of music scheduling software required.
·      Ability to operate audio equipment used for live and pre-recorded broadcasts.
·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·      Highly organized and detail oriented.
·      Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing situations.
·      Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
·      Ability to work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
·      Good understanding of various social media platforms and trends.
·      Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
·      Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Monday.com, etc.).
