Sales Director - Ontario



Whiteoaks Communications Group Limited has a rare opportunity to join our management team! We’re hiring the position of Sales Director for our company and licensee Trafalgar Broadcasting Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our established brokered programming clients, while also creating, developing and selling strategic local/national programming time and advertising campaigns for CJMR 1320 and JOY Radio (CJYE).


CJMR is Mississauga’s first licensed radio station serving over 9-million across the GTHA with multi-cultural programming to diverse communities including South Asian, Polish, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish and more.


JOY Radio (CJYE) is a family-friendly Christian radio station encouraging and educating through inspiring music and message. Reaching over 9-million across the GTHA, JOY has the largest reach for a faith station in the country.


The Sales Director will manage Trafalgar Broadcasting’s long-standing relationships with our trusted and established clients, while creating new business for our bright future!


Our team is ready to grow after agreement to purchase three FM stations and one AM station from Bell Media in Hamilton/Niagara regions. Bounce 102.9 (CKLH), HTZ-FM 97.7 (CHTZ), Move 105.7 (CHRE) and NewsTalk 610 (CKTB), will join our network (pending CRTC approval) under newly formed Golden Horseshoe Broadcasting Limited to expand our dedicated, locally owned, community-focused media company.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the President, provide leadership to the organization and contribute towards future vision through sales and broadcasting developments (i.e. technical or ideological).

  • Direct and manage all local & national sales accounts (program/advertising) for radio and digital media platforms.

  • Actively pursue new clients and grow relationships.

  • Implement sales organization objectives that reflect the company’s business goals including managing sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes.

  • Manage functions essential to sales productivity which include reporting, quota setting and management, and sales process optimization.

  • Work closely with national advertising representatives.

  • Research and analyze the intended audience for advertiser, then determine what type of communication, from radio to digital, would be best to reach that audience.

  • Work with internal teams, colleagues, and managers to develop creative solutions and integrated sales programs for clients.

  • Develop and maintain client profiles, account history, contact updates, and annual account planning.

  • Attend industry events, client events, networking opportunities, etc. (virtual and/or in-person).


ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • Achievement of company sales and strategic objectives as they relate to the Sales department, as established each year during fiscal budget and corporate planning.

  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.

  • Efficient implementation of technology, support, and training resources impacting company sales.

  • Accurate and on-time reporting essential for department effectiveness.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST:

·       Have a proven ability to negotiate and close with a high level of success and must easily build relationships.

·       Service client base in a professional manner consistent with our company values.

·       Be able to identify, develop, and present customized solutions to clients using non-traditional and digital concepts.

  • Have a team mentality: foster close, cooperative relationships with peer leaders and other company directors.

·       Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, easily commanding the room during presentations.

·       Multi-task with a high degree of time management and organizational skills.

·       Respond to queries and follow up on all client calls and emails promptly.

·       Have knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).

·       Possess a working knowledge of Wide Orbit and Visual Traffic.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

·       A minimum of 5+ years of direct sales or B2B account management experience.

·       A minimum of 5+ years of management experience.

·       Media sales or knowledge of the broadcast industry.

·       A minimum of 3+ years of digital (audio) sales experience.

·       A valid driver’s license.
