Program Director, MBC Radio Network, Saskatchewan


Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation seeks a Program Director to oversee radio and digital operations, and to ensure that radio operates, grows and develops, while recognizing the Indigenous philosophical elements of the organization. The Program Director will lead the on-air and digital presentation and be responsible for talent development and programming. This is a leadership role requiring a proven track record in radio programming and multiplatform content creation. Position is based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.


Responsibilities:

• Develop long term strategy for the growth and development of radio operations.

• Develop and oversee day-to-day operations, including station programming, music, and promotions.

• Ensure compliance with all CRTC regulations.

• Manage budgets.

• Establish and implement specialized programming to include comprehensive coverage of Indigenous languages, including Cree, Dene, Michif, Saulteaux, Dakota/Nakota (Assiniboine).

• Establish a strategy to promote MBC Radio in Indigenous communities throughout Saskatchewan.

• Recruit, Coach, and Develop on air presenters, music, production staff and promotion.

• Develop a training program to provide opportunities for Indigenous youth/individuals interested in pursuing a career in radio.

• Establish and maintain a positive relationship with the Indigenous community.

• Represent MBC at events or charity functions.

• Working closely with all departments


Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years experience in radio broadcasting, with 2 years experience as either Program Director, Assistant Program Director or Music Director.

• Possess an understanding of Programming, team building and promotion fundamentals.

• Self-motivated but able to take direction.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment.

• A degree / diploma from a recognized radio broadcast training institute.

• A working knowledge of Music Master scheduling software.

• A knowledge of Radio Automation System, Adobe Audition and Microsoft Office.

• Working knowledge of social media and website (WordPress).
