So... If MMU is interpreting the recent posts on his Facebook page correctly (and we’re pretty sure we are), we think we can safely announce that longtime weather reporter JJ Clarke (Ron Rowat) is no longer with CTV Ottawa.
Hello Broadcasters and Friends,
The Western Association of Broadcasters board of directors has been closely monitoring ongoing news regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and following guidance from the World Health Organization, Public Health Agency of Canada and Alberta Health Services. Though the Federal government has currently assessed the public health risk in Canada and the province of Alberta remains low, we have been in close communication with the Fairmont Banff Springs to ensure the safety of our delegates, sponsors and speakers.
Today, our board of directors made a difficult decision about the future of our 86th Annual Conference. We were looking forward to our Conference taking place June 10-11, 2020 in Banff, Alberta, but with the recent news about COVID-19, we have determined the best course of action is to not proceed with our Conference in June.
We are sincerely appreciative of the support of our early sponsors, delegates, speakers and suppliers in Canada, U.S. and International. Rather than postpone the Conference to a later time in 2020, we have made the decision to focus our efforts on our 2021 Conference which takes place June 9-10, 2021.
We are pleased to announce we have been in touch with our featured speakers and panelists and they have ALL provided us their support and confirmation to speak at our next Conference in 2021. Please visit the speaker schedule here and the information on the speaker lineup here. We have an excellent, world-class speakers program ready for you in 2021.
Please click on the logos on our Sponsorship page here to check out the products and services of the amazing companies who generously stepped up to support our Conference. We are especially grateful to the early supporters and to our Diamond and Platinum sponsors - FACTOR, Corus Entertainment and LeadsRx.
We will be carrying over all sponsorships programs exactly as negotiated into our 2021 Conference.
We will keep our awards nominations forms active online for those who wish to submit, but we will no longer have a March 27 deadline. For our 2021 Awards, initiatives that took place within 24 months of the awards deadline date will be allowed to be submitted for the Gold Medal Awards. Applicants who have already applied for the Broadcast Order of Achievement will also be recognized in 2021. We look forward to rightly celebrating the accomplishments of our member stations and Prairie broadcasters in person in 2021.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
We are looking at alternative methods to hold our AGM and will advise at a later time.
We are pleased to apply the paid delegate registrations to next year’s Conference. If you rather receive a refund instead and register separately for 2021 please contact us and we will work with you.
