Blackgold Broadcasting is seeking an experienced News Anchor/Reporter. In this role, you will deliver morning newscasts for our stations in Leduc, Parkland, and Ponoka, and provide daily local news coverage for 88.1 The One in Parkland County.

This full-time position is based in our Leduc office, located just a 20-minute drive south of Alberta's capital of Edmonton.



Duties:


-Anchor the morning news desk, updating newscasts as stories develop.


-Research, write, and produce local news content for radio and digital platforms, including actualities.


-Investigate leads, build contacts, advance/follow stories, and become familiar with local trends.


-Coordinate with News Director during election coverage and other special events.


-Participate in editorial meetings, air checks, and ongoing coaching.



Qualifications:


-Previous experience in a broadcast newsroom and/or post-secondary education in journalism.


-Strong reporting skills, an eagerness to take initiative on driving local content and conducting interviews.


-Professional on-air delivery that is clear, conversational, and engaging.


-Excellent news judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.


-Knowledge of sports is required for this position.


-Understanding of on-air CP style news copy and long-form web article format.


-Experience with KLZ Newsroom (or similar newsroom software) is an asset.
