Information Technology (IT)/Broadcast Technician
Job Type: Full Time

As a valued member of the IT & Engineering team at CHIN Radio/TV International, your collaborative spirit and proactive approach will be key to your success. Reporting directly to the Manager, IT & Broadcast, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and resolving technical and IT issues across our broadcast operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the heart of the radio industry and support the technical backbone of our stations.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Support:
Provide assistance to front line staff and work independently or alongside peers to address IT issues related to on-air systems, office servers and computers, phone sets, printers, and peripheral devices. Providing both in person and remote support capabilities are highly valued as we continue to build out a robust facility.
Technical Operations:
You’ll support technical aspects to our broadcast facilities, including programming of audio signal routing, maintenance, upgrades, updates, and modifications within the control room, in studio and at transmission sites. This includes support for converged IT and Broadcast equipment and any respective peripherals.
Broadcast Continuity:
Ensure uninterrupted on-air status for all radio stations on AM & FM frequencies, associated HD channels and online streaming services. Implementing enhancements for failover to automation systems for short and long term recovery of signals during planned and unplanned outages.
Systems Maintenance:
Ensure the station’s broadcast equipment; including transmitters, audio processors, automation systems, site to transmitter links, site to site IP VPN links and IP multicast networks are running efficiently. Analyze trends and patterns to improve the resiliency of the broadcast systems operations and implement improvements as needed.
Collaboration:
Work closely with Radio Operators to maintain consistent and high-quality broadcast. Collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff in a timely manner to resolve technical and non-technical issues.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Upkeep and creation of documentation for inter department consumption are an asset.
Travel:
Regular travel throughout the GTA is required, including visits to transmitter sites, remote broadcast locations to perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
Flexible Hours:
Flexibility in your schedule may be required to complete tasks efficiently, with hours determined by senior management.
Qualifications:
• A diploma or degree in Electronics, Computer Systems, Audio Engineering or Broadcast Systems Technology complemented by strong electronic and IT skills.
• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working with broadcast systems preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, SQL Server, PowerShell, Linux & Windows Server Operating Systems.
• Experience with corporate server/network & virtualization technologies such as NAS, Cisco, Ubiquiti & Hyper-V.
• Preferred working knowledge of IP Codecs, SIP, VoIP and AoIP signals and their integration into analog and digital Broadcast Systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive both independently and within a dynamic team environment.
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to prioritize work in response to urgent changing needs.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and altitudes.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
