BIG-FM Has Launched

Updated: 1 hour ago

Following six hours of stunting by playing "Bye Bye Mon Cowboy" by Mitsou, CHRC-FM Clarence-Rockland and CKHK-FM Hawkesbury, pulled the trigger on Hot Country, and introduced BIG-FM, Playing...Whatever with "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns N Roses.

The format on both stations will be adult hits featuring a huge library blending 90s alternative, pop, classic rock and a bunch of surprises.

1077 BIG-FM, and 925 BIG-FM will have a lot of personality beyond the music thanks to imaging voice "Derek "Watty" Watson, and his tongue and cheek, sarcastic and playful outlook on life.

"The stations will remain locally focused, more so than before. We'll continue to promote/support local events, and charities, provide news from across the region at times ignored by other outlets, while giving listeners a station that is fun to listen to suiting everyone's music preference." said Derrick Scott, Operations Manager.

"When several local business owners heard about the proposed change, they automatically wanted to partner with the stations given the demographics, and the fact that we are now locally owned. This Big change wouldn't of happened with input from the stations' sister station team at GO-FM (CHOD-FM) Casselman, Ontario." said Mathieu Manning General Manager, and Richard Michel, General Sales Manager.

Both CHRC-FM and CKHK-FM were to be silenced when Evanov Communications announced they were signing off the radio stations. To continue to provide a local service to both communities the ownership of GO-FM purchased both stations, pending full CRTC approval, in the Fall of 2024.
