Stranger Things Launches Online 80s Radio Station

ree

It will only run until January 1st, but Neflix and the producers of Stranger Things have launched an online radio station, WSQK The Squawk. Streaming on TuneIn and on the Global Player app.

Vice reports that Netflix U.K., together with broadcaster Global Player, has launched a real-life version of the show’s fictional radio station WSQK The Squawk — playing nonstop 1980s hits and broadcasting in-universe segments inspired by the show’s setting in 1980s small-town America.

The station kicks off a nostalgic, fully immersive experience: it includes DJs, retro-style jingles and ads, and playful segments like “‘Rewind at 9’” (songs played backwards for listeners to guess), “Talk to Tammy,” and “Dial-A-Dedication.”

This effort is part of what makes Stranger Things feel so convincingly rooted in the ’80s — not just through visuals or dialogue, but through sound and atmosphere, bringing the world of the show out into the “real world.” Ask Alexa or Google to "Play The Skwawk" or listen here: https://tunein.com/radio/WSQK-s349683/
