We have a very rare and exciting opportunity for a Program Director to join the team at Surge 105 and Hot Country 103.5in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Station Manager, you will manage all programming activities for two stations in a highly competitive rated market. Your focus will be coaching and developing talent, maintaining the integrity of our brands by playing the “right” music for the target audiences and creating awareness for the products in the community.
You’re experienced at building strong relationships with talent. You understand the importance of Human Connection and Shared Experiences. You’re creative and know how to “surprise” the audience and make them feel “special”. You understand the need for continuous engagement with “fans” to build communities. You know the difference between Alternative, Mainstream and Modern Rock. You know how to partner with sales and promotions to drive revenue. You have a deep understanding of Halifax and the region, you know the competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, and you know what the target audience wants from their favorite radio station.
Core Responsibilities:
• Develop and “Inspire talent through coaching to be audience focused (local, relevant and FUN).
• Monitoring music, imaging and branding on-air and across all relevant platforms to ensure maximum engagement with our audience and partners.
• Develop and execute revenue-generating opportunities through close collaboration with Sales and Promotions.
• Analysis and interpretation of ratings data, industry trends, and audience research.
• Execution of a daily on-air show may be required.
What we are looking for:
• Experience in a leadership and coaching role.
• Experience hosting shows and creating content (audio & video) for multiple platforms.
• A deep understanding and experience with Modern Rock and Country formats
• Experience with problem-solving, managing conflict and building and maintaining positive, inclusive cultures.
• Experience with industry specific software such as Wide Orbit and Music Master.
